GOVERNOR'S CHIEF OF STAFF DISCHARGED FROM HOSPITAL
(Jackson, Mississippi) – Charlie Williams, Governor Haley Barbour's chief of staff, was discharged from Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis today and will recuperate at home in Senatobia from heart bypass surgery.
Williams underwent triple bypass surgery on June 12, 2007. He is expected to remain at home for about a month and then resume his duties on a part-time basis; he should be fully recovered and back on the job full-time in about eight weeks.
"I feel great," Williams said. "I especially want to thank everyone who kept Ellen and me in their thoughts and prayers; we are grateful for each and every one."
