(Jackson, Mississippi) – Governor Haley Barbour and other officials are scheduled to break ground on Monday for ACCO Brands Corporation’s 570,000-square foot expansion at the company’s facility in Booneville, an expansion that will add more than 300 new jobs and enhance efficiencies.

“ACCO Brands has demonstrated continued confidence in the Mississippi business climate with the announcement last August that it will expand the facility in Prentiss County,” Governor Barbour said. “This expansion is an example of how our Momentum Mississippi initiative is working to help Mississippi companies to expand employment opportunities. We welcome the more than 300 new jobs and the innovative partnerships made possible under the state’s economic development programs.”

The event, which begins at 2:30 p.m. at the ACCO facility (300 Quartet Avenue, Booneville, Miss.), will also include Dennis Chandler, president and chief operating officer of ACCO Brands’ Office Products Group, Mayor Roger Smith, of Booneville, and Glen Green, president of the Prentiss County Board of Supervisors.

The $55 million project includes three new buildings totaling 570,000 square feet, and major renovations to existing buildings to improve productivity. When the project is complete, ACCO Brands will occupy 748,000 square feet in total.

The company currently employs more than 500 people in Booneville. That number will grow to approximately 850 employees working in distribution, manufacturing and customer service functions when the expansion is completed in 2008.

ACCO Brands cited lower operating costs, reduced shipping costs and greater proximity to customers among the reasons for choosing Mississippi for this major, state-of-the-art expansion. In addition, ACCO officials acknowledged at the announcement that Governor Barbour’s continued persistence and involvement in the project was a major factor in the decision. The company will close two manufacturing facilities in Illinois and Mexico, relocating some manufacturing to the expanded Booneville facility.
