Sixty years ago, with just eight hundred dollars borrowed from a family co-op fund, Berry Gordy, Jr. launched his independent record company.
Motown Records not only made music but made history.
The music of Motown permeated a divide within our culture – unifying pop and soul, black and white, and old and young.
We invite you join us at Forte’s Jazz Lounge to celebrate the soulful music of Motown and honor Motown’s influence on our culture. This one-of-a-kind event will feature the live performances of the talented David Anthony and Paul Stone from Chattanooga in one of Charleston’s most eclectic venues on King Street.
Local craft beer and a selection of wine will be available for purchase. A complimentary drink ticket is included.
