GOVERNOR BARBOUR APPOINTS WRIGHT TO REGISTERED PROFESSIONAL GEOLOGISTS BOARD
(JACKSON, Mississippi)-Governor Haley Barbour has appointed Michael J. Wright, of Brandon, to the State Board of Registered Professional Geologists, which regulates and registers geologists practicing in Mississippi. Wright will be the at-large representative, serving a four-year term ending June 30, 2012.
“As a professional geologist for two decades, Mike has the experience and knowledge necessary to be an effective member of this important board,” Governor Barbour said. “I am delighted he has accepted this assignment.”
Wright, owner of Geological Services for 21 years, also works at the Mississippi Department of Transportation as a geologist IV. He has worked for MDOT for 23 years. Wright previously served on the advisory committee to the Mississippi Board of Registered Professional Geologists, where he was chairman for two years. In addition, he is a member of the Mississippi Geological Society.
Wright attended the University of Southern Mississippi, where he earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree. He and his wife, Debbie, have three children, Leigh Anne, Amy, and Stephen.
