GOVERNOR BARBOUR APPOINTS PUCKETT TO STATE ARTS COMMISSION

 

(JACKSON, Mississippi)—Governor Haley Barbour has announced the appointment of Carol Puckett, of Greenwood, to the Mississippi Arts Commission, which works to stimulate and encourage the study and presentation of the performing, visual, and literary arts.

 

“Carol has a true love for Mississippi arts and culture, and I am pleased she has accepted this important responsibility,” Governor Barbour said.

 

Puckett is president of the Viking Hospitality Group, a division of Viking Range in Greenwood, Miss., which includes the Alluvian Hotel, Alluvian Spa, Viking Cooking School, Viking Retail Store, and Giardina’s Restaurant. Additionally, Puckett is founder of The Everyday Gourmet, a cooking school and gourmet retail store, and The Everyday Gardener. Within her community, Puckett serves on the boards of directors of Blue Cross Blue Shield, the International Ballet Competition, the Southern Foodways Alliance and the Center for the Study of Southern Culture. She is past president of the Junior League of Jackson, the Mississippi Women’s Forum, and New Stage Theatre.

 

Puckett attended Converse College in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
