GOVERNOR BARBOUR APPOINTS FARRAR TO STATE REHABILITATION COUNCIL
(Jackson, Mississippi)—Governor Haley Barbour announced the appointment of Charles S. Farrar, Sr., of Columbus, to the State Rehabilitation Council, which is designed to promote consumer-control, self-help, self-determination, equal access and independence for individuals with disabilities.
“I am proud Charles has accepted this position,” Governor Barbour said. “He has a passion for providing independent living to all individuals, regardless of their disabilities, and works to promote disability awareness in Mississippi. I feel confident he will serve successfully in this role.”
Farrar has worked for rehabilitation services for more than 12 years. Currently, he works as facility manager of AbilityWorks, Inc., in conjunction with the Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Services. Previously, he served as an accounting/auditing technician, work adjustment instructor, and job club instructor for MDRS.
Farrar earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the Mississippi University for Women, and he has also studied in the Program for Rehabilitation Leadership at the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies, Georgia State University.
