GOVERNOR BARBOUR APPOINTS PREWITT TO THE DELTA REGIONAL REVITALIZATION TASK FORCE
(Jackson, Mississippi)—Governor Haley Barbour today announced the appointment of Bern Prewitt, of Cleveland, to the Delta Regional Revitalization Task Force. The task force will function as an independent research and analytical group designed to set measurable, achievable, and significant goals that will revitalize the Mississippi Delta Region.
“Bern, a Delta native, understands the value of economic development to the region’s economy. Having years of business experience in the Delta, Bern is a good choice to fill this position and will serve successfully in this role,” Governor Barbour said.
Prewitt has worked in the agriculture business for over 60 years. Most recently, he served as president of the Bolivar County Board of Supervisors. He is a member of the Mississippi Association of Supervisors, National Association of Counties, Industrial Development Foundation, Chamber of Commerce and Delta Council. Past president of the Mississippi Aerial Applicators Association and Mississippi Agricultural Board, Prewitt serves as vice president of the National Agricultural Association.
A member of the District Four school board, Bern also serves as past Lead Bayou Commissioner for his community. He and his wife, Bobbye, have two children, Bern Jr. and Melissa.
