GOVERNOR BARBOUR APPOINTS RICE TO BOARD OF REGISTRATION FOR FORESTERS

(Jackson, Mississippi)—Governor Haley Barbour announced the appointment of Charles R. “Randy” Rice, of Sumrall, to the Mississippi Board of Registration for Foresters. The board is designed to establish standards of practice and a code of ethics for registered foresters within the state.

“Randy’s extensive forestry experience makes him well qualified to serve in this capacity. He will be a great asset, and I look forward to working with Randy during his years of service,” Governor Barbour said.

Rice is president of Forest Owners, Inc., a consulting forestry firm. He has over thirty years of experience in the management of timberlands for private, non-industrial landowners in Mississippi. In addition to being a Registered Forester, Rice is licensed as a Real Estate Broker, representing clients in the sale or purchase of timberlands. He is a member of the Association of Consulting Foresters, Hattiesburg Area Association of Realtors, Longleaf Alliance, and other forestry related organizations.

Rice graduated from the School of Forestry at Louisiana Tech University. He and his wife, Deborah, have five children.
