GOVERNOR BARBOUR APPOINTS MITCHELL TO BOARD OF REGISTRATION FOR FORESTERS
(Jackson, Mississippi)—Governor Haley Barbour announced the appointment of John B. Mitchell, of Corinth, to the Mississippi Board of Registration for Foresters. The board is designed to establish standards of practice and a code of ethics for registered foresters within the state.
“John’s extensive forestry experience makes him well qualified to serve in this capacity. He will be a great asset, and I look forward to working with John during his years of service,” Governor Barbour said.
Mitchell is a private forestry consultant and currently works as president of Mitchell Forestry Consulting, Inc. His thirty years of forestry experience include working as a project and procurement forester and district, area, and operations manager for Tenneco Packaging Incorporated. In addition to being a Registered Forester, Mitchell is also licensed as a Real Estate Broker in Mississippi and Tennessee. He is a member of the Association of Consulting Foresters, Forest Landowners Association, and the Tishomingo, Pontotoc, and Mississippi Forestry Associations. Mitchell is president of the Alcorn Forestry Association. In 1975, he earned a bachelor’s degree in forestry from Mississippi State University.
