WHEREAS, the Dietary Managers Association (DMA) was established in 1960 and today has over 15,000 member professionals; and
WHEREAS, the Dietary Managers Association is a not-for-profit association with its primary mission “to provide optimum nutritional care through food service management”; and
WHEREAS, dietary managers and their employers work in a variety of settings including schools, correctional facilities, hospitals, long-term care, and in the non-commercial sector; and
WHEREAS, dietary managers and other food service employees are to be applauded for their hard work and dedication; and
WHEREAS, those in the food service industry are responsible for assuring that those whom they serve are provided with nutritious, healthy, and enjoyable meals that they might otherwise not receive; and
WHEREAS, Pride in Food Service Week was first celebrated by the Dietary Managers Association in 1991 to honor and celebrate the work and contributions of those in the foodservice industry:
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Haley Barbour, Governor of the State of Mississippi, hereby proclaim the week beginning February 1, 2004, as
PRIDE IN FOOD SERVICE WEEK
in the State of Mississippi.
