(Jackson, Miss.) – Governor Haley Barbour today announced his appointment to the Mississippi Circuit Court (District 2) representing Hancock, Harrison, and Stone counties. Roger Clark, of Gulfport, will serve in former Judge Robert Harry Walker’s post due to his resignation effective November 15, 2004. Walker was appointed U.S. Magistrate in Gulfport and Clark will complete his term which ends in December of 2006.

“The Judicial Appointments Advisory Committee has worked hard to ensure that a qualified, conscientious, and dedicated person fills this important post,” said Governor Barbour. “Roger is a man of integrity and high moral character. I know that he will be an asset to Mississippi’s judicial system.”

Clark has practiced law for 35 years and received his law degree from the University of Mississippi. He is a member of the Harrison County and Mississippi Bar Associations, the Mississippi Defense Lawyers Association, and the American Board of Trial Attorneys. He is also a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and the Mississippi Bar Foundation. He has a daughter, two sons and is married to Anita M. Clark.

Governor Barbour’s Judicial Appointments Advisory Committee, which reviews the qualifications of potential judicial appointees in accordance with Executive Order 914, found Clark fully qualified to serve in this post.
