Statement of Governor Haley Barbour

“Representative Charlie Capps has been one of Mississippi’s great legislative leaders. During his 34 years in office, he has been a participant in some of the Mississippi Legislature’s greatest achievements. Charlie Capps always knew how to reach across party lines, and he never let partisan politics get in the way of doing the people’s business.

His wisdom, character and humor will certainly be missed in the hallways of the State Capitol. Marsha and I wish Charlie all the best during his well-earned retirement and, on behalf of all Mississippians, thank him for his service to our state.”
