The American Camp Association (ACA) is partnering with the U.S. Olympic Committee to promote Olympic Day activities at camps around the country on June 23, 2015.
Olympic Day, held annually, is celebrated by thousands of people in more than 160 countries to commemorate the birth of the Modern Olympic Games, and is an international effort to promote fitness and well-being. Camps that register their Olympic Day events with the U.S. Olympic Committee, will join more than 1,000 organizations around the country that use the day to encourage children to lead healthy, active lives.
For over a century, camp experiences have been a summer sanctuary for children to play, explore, and connect with nature.
The Olympic Day events, designed to engage youth and promote the ideals of the Olympic movement, will feature family-friendly activities and interactive learning experiences that promote the Olympic ideas of fair-play, perseverance, respect, and sportsmanship.
It’s not too late for parents to find a summer camp experience for their children or an Olympic Day event to participate in. Parents are encouraged to go to www.campparents.org and use ACA’s “Find A Camp” tool to find the perfect day and overnight camp experience for their child. A directory of Olympic Day events and other information can be found at www.TeamUSA.org/OlympicDay.
