GOVERNOR BARBOUR APPOINTS KELLOGG TO
MISSISSIPPI VOLUNTEER SERVICE COMMISSION

(Jackson, Mississippi)—Governor Haley Barbour today announced the appointment of Stuart Kellogg, of Madison, to the Mississippi Volunteer Service Commission. The mission of the MVSC is to engage and support Mississippians of all ages and backgrounds in service to their communities.

“I am proud that Stuart accepted this position to serve on this important commission,” Governor Barbour said. “His years of volunteerism are a clear indication of his commitment to serving others. I am confident he will be an asset to the citizens of Mississippi while serving on this commission.”

Kellogg is president and general manager of WAPT-TV in Jackson. His previous work experience includes working as news director of KXAS-TV of Dallas and KFOR-TV of Oklahoma City; assistant news director of WWL-TV of New Orleans and WALA-TV of Mobile; and reporter for WKRG-TV of Mobile and WIXT-TV of New York. Kellogg was the recipient of the 2003 Hunger’s Hero-Mississippi Food Network award; 2003 President’s Award-United Way; and 1995 Champion Award-Mental Health Association.

He is a member of the board of directors of Belhaven College and the United Way, where he is also on the executive committee and marketing board. Kellogg is a board member and past chair of Goodwill Industries and Make-A-Wish Foundation, and is the current chairman of the Jackson State University media advisory board and president-elect of the Jackson Rotary Club. He volunteers as a reading tutor at the Barksdale Reading Institute.

Kellogg and his wife, Beth, are the parents of two children, Matthew and former Miss Mississippi Allison Kellogg. He graduated from Syracuse University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and is currently enrolled at the Wesley Biblical Seminary.
