Governor Barbour Appoints Wheat to Board of Directors of Health Care Trust Fund and Health Care Disposable Fund

(Jackson, Miss.)—Governor Haley Barbour announced the appointment of James W. Wheat, of Moss Point, to the Board of Directors of the Health Care Trust Fund and Health Care Disposable Fund. This board applies state funding towards improving the health and health care of the citizens and residents of Mississippi.

“I feel confident James will serve the people of Mississippi well,” said Governor Barbour. “He has 36 years of banking experience that make him very well-qualified for this position as a steward of taxpayers dollars.”

James W. Wheat is the Vice President of Merchants and Marine Bank and served on its Pension Committee for a number of years. He is a member of the Young Men’s Business Club of Moss Point and the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks (BPOE) #1120.

Wheat attended the University of Mississippi and graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi, earning a Bachelor’s degree in business finance. He then attended graduate school at the Graduate School of Banking of the South, Louisiana State University. Wheat is married to the former Judith Lynn Rosson. Together, they have two children: James and Ryan.
