Governor Barbour Makes Appointments to the
Commission on Marine Resources

(Jackson, Miss.)—Governor Haley Barbour announced the appointments of Oliver Sahaque, of Lakeshore in Hancock County, and Richard Gollot, of D’Iberville in Harrison County, to the Commission on Marine Resources. Sahaque will fill the Commercial Fisherman seat and Gollot will fill the Commercial Seafood Processor seat. Both men will serve a four year-term ending July 1, 2008.

“These appointees are well-qualified,” Governor Barbour said. “Both Oliver and Richard have years of experience that enables them to fulfill their roles as commercial fisherman and commercial seafood processor successfully. I feel confident they will serve the people of Mississippi well.”

Sahaque has been a commercial fisherman since 1970. He is currently employed as the Harbor Master with the Hancock Board of Supervisors and owner of the Commercial Fishery and Seawall Restaurant, a business that he has operated for 34 years. Gollott has been in the seafood business for more than 40 years, processing and selling shrimp, oysters, crabs, and fish. Currently, he is working as secretary and treasurer of the Golden Gulf Coast Package Company, Inc. and owner of Cap’N Gollott Seafood. He has been a member of the Biloxi Bay Chamber of Commerce since 1984, Southern Shrimp Alliance since 2002, and American Shrimp Processors since 1985. A member of the National Fisheries Institute for more than ten years, Gollott is also affiliated with the United Fisheries Co-Op, Inc. From 1962 to 1970, he served in the United States Army and achieved the rank of Sergeant.
