GOVERNOR BARBOUR APPOINTS CAMPBELL TO MISSISSIPPI BARBER EXAMINERS BOARD

(Jackson, Miss.)—Governor Haley Barbour today announced the appointment of John Campbell, of Starkville, to the Mississippi Board of Barber Examiners. The board is designed to regulate the barbering profession in Mississippi, with protecting the public from the spread of infections and diseases while receiving acceptable barber services from competent and skilled professionals as its main goal.

“John is an excellent choice,” Governor Barbour said. “He has years of barbering experience that make him very well-qualified for this position. I am confident he will serve the people of Mississippi well.”

Campbell has been owner of Shavers Choice, Inc. Product Company since 1996. He has also worked at the Campbell Barber and Hairstyles Shop and McRae’s Beauty Salon. Campbell is a motivational speaker for the Golden Triangle area schools in north Mississippi and serves on the Oktibbeha County Economic Development Authority (OCEDA) board. Additionally, he is a Prince Hall mason.

In 1974, Campbell earned his master barber license from the Mid-South Barber College, where he also earned an instructor’s license in 1976. He has practiced barbering at both Mississippi Valley State University and Coahoma Community College.
