The Music Farm played host to the highly anticipated October 7 R&B showcase featuring three of the genre’s more scintillating live performers.

Rising star V. Bozeman served as special guest of the nationwide tour and kicked off Wednesday’s concert with a bang. A protégé of super producer Timberland, Bozeman is widely known for her show-stopping vocals displayed in Fox’s flagship program ‘Empire’.

The song that put her on the map, ‘What Is Love’, capped off a strong showing filled with up-tempo beats, love ballads, and the confident, but humble stride of a growing trendsetter in entertainment. Additionally, Bozeman is working on her debut album, ‘Music Is My Boyfriend’.

Soulful songstress and co-headliner Leela James kept the crowd going with her powerful voice that exposed her passion for her profession and fans. Signature songs like ‘Fall For You’, ‘So Good’, and ‘Set Me Free’ rocked the building on 32 Ann Street with raw energy and emotion flowing from the stage. James also expressed heartfelt support for the state’s recent flood victims, Black culture, and the June 17 Emanuel AME shootings.

At the end of her set, James invited attendees on stage to dance with her in a show of respect and personability that was consistent with all three artists. Shout out to the dancers, singers, and musicians on stage for their superb performances throughout the night.

R&B’s “Love King” Raheem DeVaughn completed the trilogy of talented acts with old and new hits from his catalog. Tracks from his latest Billboard chart-topping album, ‘Love Sex Passion’, were joined on the set list with past crowd pleasers such as ‘Desire’, ‘Bulletproof’ and the Grammy-nominated ‘Woman’. Ardent admirers screamed and perspired as he swayed through the standing audience to add a personal touch to his melodies.

While on tour, DeVaughn has been promoting his LoveLife Foundation, a charity that has been working overtime this month to spread both breast cancer and domestic violence awareness. The “Queen For A Day” campaign has gone across the country to present prize packages to domestic violence survivors that include a private performance with the R&B veteran.

Upcoming sets from the tour include October 30 in Winston Salem at the Lawrence Joel Vet. Memorial Coliseum and November 1 in Charlotte at the The Fillmore. Check Stubhub, Ticketmaster, or other local listings for tickets.
