Transdev, CARTA’s operations partner, recently donated $15,000 to the Mother Emanuel Hope Fund.
Cindy Mitchell, a Transdev driver in the CARTA system, spearheaded fundraising efforts in Charleston as a way to support her community.
When Ginger Stevens, Transdev’s general manager in Charleston, heard about Mitchell’s efforts, she arranged for Transdev to match any contributions made by employees from Transdev systems across the United States and Canada.
“What Cindy was doing is amazing,” Stevens said. “As soon as I heard about it, I wanted Transdev to get involved and our employees from across North America really stepped up.
Transdev Regional Vice President Derek Breun presented a $15,000 check to the CARTA board at its monthly meeting in July.
“We are so grateful to Transdev for this generous contribution,” said CARTA Board Chairman Elliot Summey. “As the region’s public transportation system, CARTA is an integral part of the Charleston community, and we are fortunate to have a partner who recognizes the importance of that connection.”
