About Aleighsa Welch:

Aleighsa Welch became the fourth Gamecock all-time to be selected in the WNBA Draft when the Chicago Sky picked her in the second round in 2015. The three-time All-SEC selection drew honorable mention All-America honors her last two seasons at South Carolina and was the 2015 SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She captured SEC Tournament MVP honors after powering the Gamecocks to their first ever championship at that event – one of many program firsts achieved under her leadership, including a spot in the 2015 NCAA Final Four and back-to-back SEC regular-season championships. Welch is one of just four Gamecocks all-time to record at least 1,000 points and 900 rebounds in her career. She holds the school record for offensive rebounds, and her career .577 field goal percentage is second in school history. Welch recently signed a contract to continue her professional basketball career in Portugal this fall.
