Winners of the 2015 National Black MBA Association® (NBMBAA®) Leaders of Tomorrow® (LOT) National Business Case Competition have been announced. On Saturday, June 27, LOT high school students from the U.S. and Canada trained for months to analyze an MBA-level Harvard-style graduate business case. Twelve final teams competed for the grand prize of $15,000 at the Jones Graduate School of Business at Rice University, who served as a contributing sponsor.
Since 1991, LOT mentors have coached students in college preparation, academic success, leadership, public speaking, networking, and goal setting to develop discipline for the competition. This year's presenting sponsor was Accenture®. Supporting sponsors were3M®, DELL®, FedEx®, H.E.B.® and The Home Depot®. A total of $30,000 in student scholarships were awarded to the winning teams.
Winners are as follows:
First Place: $15,000 and Dell Tablets awarded to the Washington DC LOT chapter
Second Place: $10,000 awarded to the Northern Virginia LOT chapter
Third Place: $5,000 awarded to the Raleigh-Durham LOT chapter
"Each team used high academic standards to strategize real life business outcomes. Students demonstrated passion and professionalism. Our leaders of tomorrow became leaders of today," says Kim Wilson, NBMBAA VP, Strategic Program Initiatives.
The winning teams said the competition provided them with new skillsets that distinguished them from their peers. All teams unanimously recommended the LOT program to fellow high school students.

Through the NBMBAA LOT program over 8,000 minority high school students have been mentored. LOT operates in more than 30 U.S. cities, Canada, and the United Kingdom. More than $2 million in scholarships and programming support has been provided and 95% of LOT graduates enroll in college.
