The National Kidney Foundation will hold its NKF Golf Classic at Cassique Golf Club, Kiawah Island on Tuesday, June 2, 2015. The tournament is one in a series of over 30 amateur golf tournaments across the country. The NKF Golf Classic is the only charity golf tournament that invites the top five local finishing teams to compete at the Pebble Beach Resorts.
“There’s nothing better than playing golf and raising money for a worthy cause that will help save lives in our region,” said Joseph ‘Trey’ Thompson, Lowcountry NKF Golf Classic Committee Chair.
Amateur golfers, male and female, can participate as part of four-person teams. The scramble tournament is open to all golfers and includes two divisions: Handicap Index and Gross. The Handicap Index Division is comprised of golfers whose combined USGA Handicap Index is 42.0 or more, with only one golfer on each team having a USGA Handicap Index of 8.0 or less. Gross Division golfers do not require handicap indexes.
The top five finishing teams will be invited to test their mettle at the Pebble Beach Golf Links, The Links at Spanish Bay and Spyglass Hill Golf Course in January 2016. Golfers will also vie for prizes donated by the NKF Golf Classic’s national corporate partner, One Car One Difference; and national promotional partners including PING, Golf Digest, The Greg Norman Collection, BirdieBox and Tiffany & Co. Local sponsors include Kiawah Development Partners, Roper St. Francis, John Davenport, Dialysis Clinics, Inc., Blue Cross Blue Shield of South Carolina, South State Bank, MedOne Transport, Summit Place at Daniel Island, Respite Care Charleston, All About Seniors, Allagash and Coast Breweries and Hudson’s Classic Catering.
The NKF Golf Classic is the nation’s Premier Amateur Golf Event for Charity™. It has raised more than $90 million for the National Kidney Foundation's awareness, prevention and treatment programs.
