Madyson Simone Harris was crowned Miss Burke 2015 along with John Anthony Smith who was crowned Mr. Burke 2015 at a program held at the school on Thursday, April 23rd.

Madyson is a junior honor student with a 3.5 grade point average and is currently enrolled at the College of Charleston taking dual credit courses.

In addition she is the clarinet section leader in Burke High School High Stepping Marching Band and head step master for the school step team.

A loyal member of Saint Patrick Catholic Church, and a member of The Junior Daughters of Our Lady Guadalupe, Madyson plans to attend North Carolina A&T and study Biochemical Engineering but is also considering the University of South Carolina.

Madyson's motto is, " Never Leave An Opportunity Behind."

She is the daughter of Craig (Burke class of 1991) and Ryonna Harris, grandparents of Chevalier and Adell Harris (Burke class of 1966); granddaughter of Soletta Taylor and the late Roosevelt Taylor; and great-grand of the late Ethel Simpson. She has two siblings, Craig Harris Jr. and Sieanna Harris.

Madyson is the eighth generation from her family who attended Burke High School (Barbara Francea Grant Butts class of 1965, Linda Grant Butler class of 1972 Venus Grant Santuce class of 1974, John Grant Jr. class of 1981, and John Grant III class of 2003).
