Baptist Hill Middle High School, with the help of several community businesses, had a successful Career Day on Wednesday, March 11, 2015. Middle and high school students were engaged in numerous interactive sessions where they learned about a variety of career options.
Baptist Hill welcomed more than 30 presenters on the morning of the event. Participating companies included Boeing SC, Pegasus Steel, The Charleston Chronicle, Floyd Brace, Key Logistics Solutions, SCE&G, The Iron Yard, Verizon Wireless, Food Lion, and so much more. These presenters took time out of their busy schedules to come speak to students about exactly what it takes to make it in their career field. The students rotated through 4-6 sessions where they heard about the skills needed, the importance of academics, drive and passion, achieving goals, and other valuable information. The students were also given time to ask questions which led to in depth conversations about careers.
At the conclusion of the event the presenters were invited to a luncheon by the Baptist Hill Guidance Department to show appreciation for the time and effort that was put forth. Baptist Hill principal, Ms. Kala Goodwine, was presented with a donation from Key Logistics Solutions for the school. A goal at Baptist Hill is to prepare scholars to be college bound and career ready, and this Career Day was one step towards this goal.
