The Holy Rock Missionary Baptist Church will be celebrating their Annual Black History Tea on Sunday February 22, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. The speaker is Gloria E. Gantt-Lambright, Dean of the Charleston County Baptist Sunday School  BTU Congress of Christian Education. Each year the church honors great African Americans who have contributed greatly to the cause of Civil Rights, Human Rights and Community Issues. This year we are especially delighted to honor Mrs. Hilda D. Gadsden, because of her strong involvement in Civil Rights and Religion, for a number of years. In 1960, Hilda D. Gadsden was one of the Four Black Freshmen from A&T College in Greensboro, N.C. who marched into Woolworth's Store, White-Only lunch counter, sat down and refused to leave until they were served. Their  protest made the National News. Ms. Gadsden also participated in demonstrations in Charleston, S.C., involving Boycotts of White-Only establishments, W.T. Grants, Bessinger's Barbecue Restaurant and others. A Memorial will be held for a distinguished Black African American who passed away on January 14, 2015. Mrs. Emma L. Gallashaw, was a retired Drug Abuse Counselor for twenty years and counseled hundreds of youths, who were strung-out on drugs. We are asking that the community at large will join us on Sunday February 22, 2015 to celebrate their contributions to society. Yours in Christ, Rev. Charles A. Green, Pastor.
