Lowcountry Local First is launching the first event of the 2015 GOODBusiness Series in order to support the success of local-independent businesses owners. GOODBusiness: Connecting to Capital will provide an opportunity for local business owners and entrepreneurs to learn traditional and innovative methods to finance a business from a panel of experts, including non-profit lenders, financial institutions, as well as crowdfunding and short-term working capital loans. The workshop is targeted for local businesses ranging from start-ups to established businesses ready to take their business to the next level. Taking place on Thursday, February 5th, 2015 from 3-5:30pm at PURE Theatre, 477 King St, Charleston, SC 29403, the event will include a panel discussion, audience Q&A, and networking. Tickets are on sale now for $20 for Lowcountry Local First members and $30 for non-members at LowcountryLocalFirst.org.

Expert private sector and non-profit panelists from Charleston Local Development Corporation, Heritage Trust Federal Credit Union, Jericho Advisors, SC Community Loan Fund, Southcoast Community Bank, and South State Bank will discuss the financing methods they offer as well as the type of businesses they typically support. Additionally, business owners who’ve completed successful crowdfunding campaigns will discuss their experiences.

“One of the issues identified as a challenge and interest area by attendees at our 2014 GOODBusiness Summit was access to capital,” says Jamee Haley, Executive Director at Lowcountry Local First. “GOODBusiness: Connecting to Capital provides a great primer for busy business owners to understand their options, meet the players, and make informed choices to finance the launch or growth of their business.”

Following the panel discussion and Q&A, Lowcountry Local First will host networking for attendees and panelists with refreshments. Registration for GOODBusiness: Connecting to Capital can be completed at LowcountryLocalFirst.org.
