The Rose and La Conception: Charleston's Christmas Treasure of 1744

In December 1744, the H.M.S. Rose, a 24-gun British man-of-war, captured a French treasure ship from South America and brought her to Charleston. The crew divided an immense booty of gold, silver and jewels--the largest treasure haul ever brought to S.C. Join CCPL's historian, Dr. Nic Butler, for an illustrated narrative of the desperate sea battle for La Conception and the discovery of her magnificent hidden bounty.
