The Charleston Lifestyle: The Charleston Mac Off, Swig Magazine Party
10/29/2014 3:15:07 PM

Swig Magazine Hottest Bartender Contest Launch Party: We had good reason to visit Ruthledge Cab Co last week to check out the bartenders competing in Swig Magazine's Hottest Bartender Contest. Mixologists from some of Charleston's trendiest bars gathered to garner votes and enjoy custom cocktails from Ciroc Pineapple and Peligroso Tequila and bites from Cab Co. Dj Rehab was playing 90's hits that everyone loves to dance to. But we're gonna keep our favorite pick for Hottest Bartender to ourselves but visit your favorite bar and tell us who you think is the Best Looking Bartender in Charleston.

Red Party: The last soiree at the Old Charleston Jail commenced in great fashion. The French Renaissance themed fundraiser brings Charlestonions of all backgrounds together for a party the has been named the best in the city. The American College of the Building Arts is an institution that teaches specialized architectural design. The event allows the school to offer scholarships to worthy students. Powdered wigs and white tights filled the haunted located as Dj Cnile and Seth G kept every dancing. Pastries from Glazed, Sugar and Vanilla Bean Pastry were everywhere in the true spirit of Marie Antoinette. Dellz Deli and Saveurs de Monde offered delicious savory options to the party.

Red Party: The Cocktail Bandits had the honor of featuring a custom cocktail during the event. Our amuse-bouche appropriately named The Duchess, was made with tequila and banana pudding liqueur and finished with a fruit compote. (recipe below) The Signature Cocktail Contest winning cocktail created mixologist Justin Edgar at Zero Cafe, The Red Scare, was also featured during the party. For a recap of the Signature Cocktail Contest for the Red Party visit

The Charleston Mac Off: Bud Light and Firefly Vodka were on hand to wash down all those cheesy samples with cold drinks. There were plenty of non-cheese filled options available and a play area for children. This event gets better every year. Here's to hoping they will add more chicken and fish offerings to the event next year.

The Charleston Mac Off: Maraconi and cheese lovers rejoice! By far the cheesy event in Charleston, the Mac Off drew in well over 3000 people. All in search for the best mac and cheese recipe. Public House and Cainhoy Cooking Depot offered their best rendition of the classic dish.
