The Holiday Festival of Lights is gearing up to make spirits bright at James Island County Park! And the best way to get a sneak peek of this year’s festival is at the Fun Run, Nov. 12 and 13.

Families, area residents, and anyone who loves the holidays are invited to experience the 25th annual Holiday Festival of Lights up close at the Fun Run and Walk. This two-mile, non-competitive event offered on two nights – Nov. 12 and 13 – is now open for registration.

Because much of the Holiday Festival of Lights is normally seen from a vehicle, the Fun Run and Walk is the way to go for seeing the entire light show on foot. Attendees will get a sneak peek of the festival’s 700+ illuminated displays and amenities, including gift shops, marshmallow roasting, train and carousel rides, and so much more!

Advance registration is required for the Fun Run and Walk, and interested participants are encouraged to register now before it sells out. Register by phone at 843-795-4386 or online at www.HolidayFestivalofLights.com by 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov.12.

The race begins at 6:30 p.m. Race fees are $12 per person (ages 3 and up) until Nov. 11, and $15 thereafter. All participants must be pre-registered and have an admission ticket (not receipt) to enter the park. There will be no on-site ticket sales. Registration closes when spaces are filled. Lost tickets will not be replaced.

James Island County Park will close to traffic at 6:30 p.m., so participants are encouraged to arrive early. The park will reopen to traffic at approximately 8:30 p.m. Socialized dogs are welcomed on short, non-retractable leashes. Retractable leashes, bicycles, skateboards, rollerblades and scooters are not permitted.

For more information on the Fun Run, call (843) 795-4386 or visit www.HolidayFestivalofLights.com. The Holiday Festival of Lights will open to the general public on Nov. 14 and remain open nightly through Jan. 1, 2015. The Holiday Festival of Lights and the Fun Run are presented by Boeing and your Charleston County Parks. For more information, visit www.CharlestonCountyParks.com.
