Wine Down Wednesday returns Oct. 1 to Old Towne Creek County Park
9/5/2014 12:42:52 PM

In October, Wine Down Wednesday returns to Old Towne Creek County Park! The Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission invites the Lowcountry to get another sneak peek of a future park property and enjoy a wine social.

Old Towne Creek County Park is not yet regularly open to the public, but on select dates this fall, Lowcountry residents are invited to experience the beauty of this property during Wine Down Wednesday. Guests will enjoy wine, hors d’oeuvres and live music while exploring this hidden gem located in West Ashley. The event series debuted in 2013.

Wine Down Wednesday will take place from 5-7 p.m. on Oct. 1, 15 and 29. Charleston County residents can register in advance for $15. Non-Charleston County residents and day-of admission is $20 per person. Admission fees cover wine, hors d’oeuvres and a commemorative wine glass. For more information on Wine Down Wednesday, including details on the musical acts that will perform and food that will be served, visit

Old Towne Creek County Park, formerly Ashem Farm, was home to Charleston preservationist Emily Ravenel Farrrow and her St. Andrews Riding Academy. Located in West Ashley, the 67-acre estate is dotted with open fields mixed among groves of Live Oaks. The public is invited to come be inspired by the legacy of the Lowcountry’s nature and history with views from the park of South Carolina’s first English settlement at Charles Towne Landing, and the winding of Old Towne Creek through the salt marsh.

Currently, Old Towne Creek County Park is only open for special event purposes and private rentals, but along with several other property holdings throughout the Lowcountry, it will one day become a county park available for regular use. Wine Down Wednesday is a great opportunity for the general public to get a sneak peek of their future park.

This event is brought to you by Bota Box Wines and your Charleston County Parks. For more information, visit or call 843-795-4386.
