SC State University administrators, faculty, staff, students, alumni and other advocates of the university will pound the pavement to show support for the Palmetto State’s only supported historically black university at the Bulldog Pride March and Rally.

The event is set for Saturday, Aug. 16 at 9 a.m. Supporters will convene at the Downtown Orangeburg City Square and march in solidarity towards the rally location, the K.W. Green Student Center Plaza, located on the university’s campus.

Members of the Orangeburg Alumni chapter have organized the march and rally to ramp up support across the state for their beloved Alma Mater. They also want to unite advocates to promote the university’s legacy of educating leaders, who are transforming South Carolina, the nation and the world.

Organizers expect a host of supporters, including local leaders such as Orangeburg Mayor Michael Butler; Orangeburg County Council Member Willie B. Owens, ’60 and president of the Orangeburg Alumni chapter; Executive Director of the Downtown Orangeburg Revitalization Association Jennifer Hoesing, as well as local entrepreneurs and leaders from the faith community.

SC State leadership from President Thomas J. Elzey, Student Government President Aaron Russell to SC State University National Alumni Association President Vernell Brown are also scheduled to speak.
