The Trident Literacy Association will hold an achievement ceremony to honor our adult students who received their General Educational Development (GED) and WorkKeys certificates in the past year. The event will take place Monday, August 11 at 6:00 p.m. at Montague Terrace, North Charleston Coliseum. Dr. Mary Thornley, president of Trident Technical College, will be the keynote speaker. The public is invited to attend.

Fifty-two students received a GED this year, and 61 earned WorkKeys Career Readiness Certificates (CRC). They received instruction at Trident Literacy’s six main sites and numerous outreach locations throughout the tri-county, including several who earned the GED and CRCs while incarcerated in the Charleston County Detention Center and Hill Finklea Detention Center in Berkeley County.

“We are so proud of our students this year,” said Eileen Chepenik, Trident Literacy’s Executive Director. “They have worked so hard to overcome many obstacles and have come up winners. They deserve to be celebrated.”

Trident Literacy provides instruction in reading, writing, mathematics, GED preparation, English as a Second Language, WorkKeys Career Readiness Skills and basic computer use. For more information, call 843.747-2223.
