What do you get when you combine:
• young professionals interested in philanthropy
• abused and neglected children
• a pile of donated school supplies
• Trident United Way and HALOS (Helping and Lending Outreach Support)
• lots of ice cream
• and the Department of Social Services?
You get Trident United Way’s Young Philanthropists Society celebrating the upcoming school year with 400 children by distributing back-to-school supplies, participating in arts and crafts, and hosting an ice cream social together at DSS headquarters, 2036 Cherokee St. in North Charleston on Thursday, August 7 from 3:00 to 6:00 pm.
Trident United Way’s Young Philanthropists Society comprises professionals 40 and under who contribute $1,000 or more to improve lives in the Lowcountry.
Every day, children across South Carolina suffer from abuse and neglect. Over 55,000 children live in the full-time care of grandparents and other relatives so that they will not have to enter the foster care system. HALOS provides assistance to abused and neglected children in Charleston County and to their caregivers.
Trident United Way (TUW) works to strengthen our community by focusing on education, financial stability and health, the building blocks of a good life. TUW mobilizes many partners to work together and measures its results.
