City Gallery Exhibit
Concurrent solo exhibitions. Jessica Burke, of Statesboro, GA, will display a series of portraits in graphite that function as a meditation on identity as seen through the influence of iconic figures of popular culture in her exhibit (Re)Play. Savannah, GA, based artist, Michael Ellison, will present a collection of photographs from an ongoing project titled Every Day Sightings. The featured images document the world as Ellison sees it, often providing viewers a new take on a familiar scene.

The Meeting Place Window Exhibit
Local, self-taught artist, Wendy Hilton, will display a collection of landscapes and nature scenes in acrylic. The artist will host a free public reception on Friday, August 15, from 6:00-8:00pm.

National Outdoor Sculpture Competition and Exhibition
The ninth annual National Outdoor Sculpture Competition and Exhibition FY 14/15 is currently installed at the stunning North Charleston Riverfront Park. The eleven month exhibition features eleven established and emerging artists from seven states displaying imaginative and thought provoking sculpture. Visitors can enjoy the sculpture displays among ten acres of walking paths, a fishing pier, boardwalk, playground, and children’s play fountain. Organized and presented by the City of North Charleston Cultural Arts Department.

North Charleston Farmers Market Concerts
The North Charleston Farmers Market takes place every Thursday through October 31. Offerings include an abundance of fresh, locally grown produce, food vendors, art & craft booths, and rotating entertainment. Enjoy live music every 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th Thursday. The V-Tones will perform tropical swing on August 14. The August 21 market will feature bluesy folk originals by Maya Morrill. Enjoy rockin' blues & roadhouse soul by Steve Hardy on August 28.

Oil Mixed Media Workshop
Adult participants will learn to push the limits of texture, line, and rhythm in their work by utilizing cold wax, oil sticks, palette knives, and color shapers. Instructed by accomplished contemporary oil painter, Madeline Dukes, students will learn techniques to energize their paintings with playful experimentation and expression. Be prepared to play! This 2 hour workshop is ideal for all levels of oil painters. Materials are provided.
