Sam Lamont Wilson, III

So often we hear of the negative things children are doing, I am delighted to share Sam Lamont with you. Sam is one of those extraordinary students that we hear so little of. Sam is the proud son of Sam Jr and Cassandra Wilson and grandson of Shirley Bailey.

Sam began his high school career at Goose Creek High School. After attending Goose Creek High for a year, Sam transferred to Garrett Academy. While attending Garrett Academy, Sam was involved in Pre-Engineering Career & Technology Education, Jefferson Awards Engineering Robotics Team, Academic Quiz Bowl and Skills USA. He was inducted into the National Honor Society.

Sam worked hard even while in middle school and was ahead of his class when he went to high school. With School Board approval, Sam graduated a year ahead of schedule while achieving the valedictorian ranking in his graduation class.

Sam is presently involved in an eight weeks intern program at SPAWARS for the summer.

Sam plans to attend the University of SC on a full scholarship where he plans to major in Electrical Engineer. He received the Life Scholarship, Bi-Lo Urban League, Rotary and several other scholarships.

Sam credits his parents, teachers, principals, vice-principal and guidance counselors for keeping him on the right track.

In his speech to his graduating class, Sam said “the best way we, graduates, can show our gratitude for helping us to achieve our goals is to make the most of the opportunity we’ve been given and go forward into the world with the intention of making it a better place for the generations that follow.”
