A group of eight students from Mitchell Elementary School of Math and Science returned on July 4th morning from a weeklong leadership summer camp experience at Camp Hanes in King, North Carolina. The students were selected because of their participation in the Mu Alpha Chapter of Omega Psi Phi’s Bridge Builders program.

The program is a yearlong mentoring program that concludes with a career day activity, a special outing, and the selection of several students to attend the camp. For the special outing, the students and mentors enjoyed an afternoon of bowling at The Alley Bowling Lanes.

The Mu Alpha Chapter raises funds for the camp and its scholarship programs throughout the year. On June 14th the chapter held its inaugural 5K Fun Run and Walk to raise additional funds for the campers. The leadership camp is held annually by the Sixth District of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and students attend from North and South Carolina.

The chapter would like to thank real estate agent Terry Seabrook and attorneys Kelli Seabrook, Elonda O’Neill, and Clifford Bush for their efforts in making financial contributions to assist the fundraising efforts in sponsoring the trip for the students.
