The Charleston Lifestyle: Spoleteo & Wine Tasting

Opening Day of Spoleto: Perks-light bites and an open bar. Lots of important Charlestonians were in attendance, including the Mayor and Spoleto’s featured artist from last year, Nathan Durfee. This event is a permanent fixture on my calendar and will remain so.

Opening Day of Spoleto: Spoleto opening day celebration jump starts the 10 day art and music festival. The open flow of the City Gallery created the perfect environment for the event. Guests were able to view the art that was located on both levels of the gallery. The art on display is a compilation from various festival artists. The beauty of art is that it is open to the viewer’s interpretation. I found myself staring into several pieces overwhelmed with different emotions invoked by the bold and striking pieces of art.

Chateau Tanunda Wine Tasting: We had the pleasure of tasting delicious Australian wine on a balmy Charleston evening; better known as, perfection. The owner and winemaker, John Geber, brought his beautiful yacht and both libations all the way from down under and the trip was not made in vain. We sampled Grand Barossa Dry Riesling, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz. Each had a unique quality that kept us asking for another sampling. The Riesling was bright and floral. The Chardonnay had hints of French oak which created a crisp finish. And the Shiraz was earthy and bold just like its country of origin.

Uber.com: Cure for your late night commute. Uber enables car owners to moonlight as part-time taxi drivers. Simply sign-up at Uber.com and register to be an area driver. The Uber online application asks a few questions and does a background check on every applicant before certifying them as an Uber driver. Want to use Uber? Download the app on your Smartphone and get moving. Once activated, the client can select the Uber driver that is closest to their location. The client can choose to ride home in anything from a mid-sized vehicle or SUV. The app even gives you an estimate on the price of the fare before the driver picks you up. That comes in very handy after a night on the town. Whether you’re looking for a quick lift home or a little extra cash on the side; check out Uber.com.

Chateau Tanunda Wine Tasting: Mr. Geber and his crew, his lovely wife and handsome son, have been on a whirlwind tour showcasing their prize wine. The Grand Barossa has visited 6 cities, attended 23 events and entertained more than 500 people in the last 19 days! What a brilliant marketing campaign for a truly exceptional wine that speaks for itself. I would love to see this bottle in Charleston stores. It would compete well against the typical California and French wines we have become accustomed to.
