Edisto Island Bazaar Scheduled For May 3
3/30/2014 7:32:32 PM

The annual Edisto Island Bazaar will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2014, at the Lions’ Club Building and grounds, located at 2907 Myrtle Street, on Edisto Beach. Booths open at 10:00 a.m. and remain open until 3:00 p.m.

Booths include homemade baked goods, “attic treasures,” a ladies’ boutique, books and media, plants, and the ever-popular “white elephant” items. In addition, there will be over fifty guest arts and crafts vendors. Lunch can be purchased on site at the KD Cafe. And attendees are eligible to win a handmade quilt, and/or a variety of gifts donated by local merchants.

The bazaar is sponsored by the Whatsoever Circle of King’s Daughters, and the proceeds are used for the benefit of Edisto Island residents through humanitarian projects and services.

An eagerly-awaited event each spring is the King’s Daughters Edisto Bazaar, the first Saturday of May, and one of its most popular offerings is the Hand-made Quilt Raffle.

This year’s hand-made quilt is 68 inches by 82 inches in size, and with its brightly-colored blocks will brighten any room. Primarily red and green in color, the blocks feature a stylized-tree design which is especially apt for the holiday season.

The blocks are surrounded by a pale gray border fabric with tiny pastel flowers, and the border fabric also comprises the back of the quilt. When the quilt is turned over, it will give a very different and non-seasonal look to the room in which the quilt is used.

The quilt will be displayed at the King’s Daughters Bazaar at the Lions’ Club on May 3, and donations are $1.00 each or six for $5.00.

For further information, contact Bazaar Co-Chairs Ruth Anderson at 843-869-4237 or Patti Smyer at 803-206-2029.
