Girls Rock Charleston Launching New After School Program; Applications Due Jan. 19

Girls Rock Charleston is launching a new after school program in February of 2014 that will focus on mentorship, leadership, and music as a platform for social change.

Students will learn an instrument, form a band of their own with other students, engage in dynamic workshops focused on basic social justice principles, and perform their own original music at a real venue in town.

No musical experience is required and all instruments and materials for the program will be provided. The program is open to all girls and transgender youth ages 13-17. It will be hosted at Burke Middle High School in the Rhett Building.

The program will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4:00-6:30 pm, from February 4th-May 1st, with a final showcase on Saturday May 3rd.
