Rev. Dr. Arthur Lee Holmes was recently appointed to the Charleston County First Step Partnership Board by the Charleston County Legislative Delegation.
Dr. Holmes is a native of Charleston County and continues to serve children in his profession. He currently serves as the Chief Officer of Academics and Human Resources in Jasper County School District (Ridgeland, South Carolina). Dr. Holmes has been in this capacity for 3 years and 4 months. He oversees two major departments in the district. He is chief of the academics and the human resources departments. His main job is making sure that with his team of professionals they work to improve the quality of academics (instruction) that is offered to the students of Jasper County School District. He also serves in the area of human resources where he is responsible for recruiting, retaining, and training teachers and other professionals in the district. He loves his job especially the training aspects with new teachers and veteran teachers.
Rev. Dr. Arthur Lee Holmes also serves as the pastor of Allen African Methodist Episcopal Church located in Hollywood, South Carolina. He has been privileged to serve this congregation for two years and three months. However, Rev. Dr. Arthur Lee Holmes has been serving as a pastor in the A.M.E. Church for more than 26 years. He is married to Mrs. Souvillia C. Rice-Holmes.
Rev. Dr. Holmes is a member of several professional organizations/fraternity: American Association of School Personnel Administrators, American Association of School Administrators, Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, National Alliance of Black School Educators, South Carolina Association of School Administration, South Carolina Association of Black School Educators, South Carolina Association of Teachers of Mathematics, and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.
Rev. Dr. Arthur Lee Holmes looks forward to serving on the Charleston County First Steps Partnership Board. He brings many years of experience in education to the board. He has been in public education for 26 years. He has taught kindergarten, first grade, third grade, fourth grade, fifth, and eighth grade during his years in the classroom. He is excited and looks forward to the task and the assignment.
