Charleston, SC – On October 27, 2013, Rev. Dr. Charles R. Watkins, Jr., church members, family and friends of Morris Brown AME Church gathered at Charleston Progressive Academy School to celebrate its Fall Harvest Tea and Baby Contest.
Those in attendance were entertained by instrumental solist, Briana Gamble who is a student at the school. Miss Loumera Y. Wright a former Hope’s Treasure Chest Gem rendered a solo. While sipping harvest tea, persons munched on delectable food and pastries prepared by “Sistah Act”. The fundraiser was a very successful venture. Mrs. Harriet W. Wilder served as the Steering Committee Chairperson.
The Baby Contest included six little angels. They were Trenton Anthony Holmes; Tylen Jameson Lennen; Desean Michael Lockhart-Watkins; Samya Aaliyah Muhammad who placed First Runner-Up; Samare Halle Promanee and Aletheia Wil’Aniece Weathers who placed Second Runner-Up. Ms. Valerie Just and Ms. Augusta Scott presented the winner for the Morris Brown AME Church Baby Contest who is Tylen Jameson Lennen.
Tylen was born January 7, 2013 to Kristina Brown and Darnell Lennen. He is the first grandson to Vanessa R. Brown and the youngest great-grand to Mr. & Mrs. James H. Brown. Tylen is a very curious, active and outgoing 8 month old who is anxious to take this world by storm. He enjoys eating, sleeping, playing and most of all spending time with his Nanna and his Aunt TT (Auntie Taylor)…his hobbies include but aren’t limited to trying to walk, watching Happy Feet and making beats with his mouth, hands and whatever noisy objects is in his way.
