Sonya Dunn's Sci Fi/Action screenplay is a finalist at the 2013 LA Femme International Film Festival

Washington, DC - African American Director/Writer Sonya Dunn's high octane, sci-fi/action screenplay, Byker Chyckz, will compete for Best Screenplay at the 2013 LA Femme International Film Festival on October 20, 2013. The Award Ceremony for LA Femme International Film Festival will take place at the Renberg Theatre on 1125 N McCadden Place Los Angeles, CA at 7:00 p.m. (Red carpet starts at 6:00 p.m.)

Byker Chyckz is about a futuristic gang of female bikers, with a bounty on their heads, fighting to stay alive while returning the daughter of a world leader back home.

The screenplay Byker Chyckz is a part of a transmedia project that has the following media platforms in development: graphic novels, animation, gaming and film.

Sonya Dunn said, "Since the beginning of time and even today, one specific group of people have always been enslaved - females. Sex slavery is pandemic. Set in a high tech, futuristic earth; this high concept, fast pace screenplay explores this theme."

Sonya Dunn is the writer/director of the internationally acclaimed film The Bedroom that screened at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival, Pan African Film Festival 2013, Martha's Vineyard African American Film Festival 2013, San Diego Black Film Festival 2013, Sista Doin' It for Themselves 2013, LA Femme International Film Festival 2012.

She is an award-winning writer, producer and director for films, cable and online programming. With an M.A. in Producing from American University, she is the owner of JEMH Entertainment, a production company. She is a M.B.A candidate (Media Entertainment) at American University.
