This years’ NFL Pro Bowl will feature three natives of South Carolina - A.J. Green of the Cincinnati Bengals, Tim Jennings of the Chicago Bears & Jonathan Joseph of the Houston Texans.
A.J. Green, a graduate of Summerville High School(Summerville, SC), is making his second trip to the Pro Bowl. The former Georgia Bulldog product will be making his first appearance as a starter. Last year he became the first rookie wide receiver voted to the game since Anquan Boldin of Arizona in 2003. This season, through 15 games, Green is tied for the AFC lead in TD receptions (11), ranks second in receiving yards (1324) and ranks fourth in receptions (95).
Another former Georgia Bulldog, Tim Jennings, was selected to the Pro Bowl for the first time as the leading vote-getter for cornerbacks on the NFC roster. Jennings, a Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School(Orangeburg,SC) Graduate, led the NFL with 9 interceptions , 21 pass deflections and recorded 60 tackles. He also returned two interceptions for a touchdown.
Jonathan Joseph, A Northwestern High School (Rock Hill, SC) graduate, was selected to the Pro Bowl for the second consecutive season as a member of the Houston Texans. Joseph played college ball at the University of South Carolina. Also a cornerback, he finished the season with 57 tackles, 2 interceptions (one returned for a touchdown) and 11 pass deflections.
The game will be played in Honolulu, Hawaii on Sunday January 27, 2013 and will be televised on NBC at 7:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
