Charleston County School District welcomes Dr. Katchia Gethers as principal at Hunley Park Elementary School. Gethers comes to CCSD from Hawaii where she has served as a vice principal through the Hawaii Department of Education for the past four years.

Gethers began her teaching career in 1998 with Albany, New York Public Schools and the Hawaii Department of Education as a special education and general education teacher. During her time with these organizations, Gethers also joined the University of Phoenix as an education instructor in special education and social studies for three years.

In 2006, she left the classroom as a teacher to become a reading consultant with EdisonLearning in Newark, NJ.
