Charleston County School District’s 2020-2021 registration underway

Charleston County School District 2020-2021 registration began May 20, 2020*. Registration will take place during regular school office hours, Monday through Thursday, excluding school holidays, for the remainder of the current school year and throughout the summer.

Online registration for all students will be available June 8, 2020*, as an additional way for parents to register their students here.

All registering parents should provide the following to their zoned and/or accepted magnet/charter school:

      – Child’s legal birth certificate

      – Current South Carolina Certificate of Immunization, or a South Carolina Certificate of Medical or Religious Exemption

     – Notarized Affidavit of Residency

     – One document for residence verification

          o Signed and dated lease o Most recent real property tax bill

          o Copy of the ratified contract for purchase with the date of closing

          o Copy of the ratified contract for construction

     – One document for mail verification

          o Electric or gas bill

          Water bill

          o Phone bill (NOT cell phone)

          o Cable bill or internet bill

          o Car registration (NOT driver’s license)

          o Pay stub (must show employer’s name and current pay period, name and address of the parent/guardian)

          o Local, state, or federal agency correspondence that reflects the name and address of the parent/guardian (Social Security, Medicaid, DSS, IRS, court documents, etc.)

To register for kindergarten for the upcoming school year, children must be five years-old on or before September 1, 2020.

Students currently enrolled in four-year-old kindergarten programs in the district should not register as “new students.” These students will receive 2020-2021 kindergarten information from their child’s school. “We are ready to welcome new families and kindergarteners into our wonderful schools,” says Executive Director, John Cobb. *Due to ongoing updates on social distancing restrictions, if school offices are not opened by May 20 or June 8 to receive registration documents on-site, Parents should check their school’s website for the most updated school office schedule information and be prepared to follow safety protocols to complete on-site registration.
