The 75th Sixth District Meeting of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. was recently held as a virtual teleconference due to the impact of the COVID-19 virus. The event was originally scheduled to take place in Columbia, South Carolina.
Kurt Walker was elected the 42nd District Representative, beating Clarence West of Greenville, South Carolina. Walker will now preside over the more than 100 graduate and undergraduate chapters of North and South Carolina. He was also the recipient of the Man of The Year Award for the Sixth District as well.
Reginald Terry was recognized as the winner of the Superior Service Award for his outstanding contributions and work on behalf of the Mu Alpha Chapter. Cadet Blakely Epps was the recipient of the George Meares Scholarship as he continues his academic studies at The Citadel Military College.
The conference was held by using digital technology by aid of the ZOOM platform. “It is truly indeed an honor to have been elected and to follow such esteemed members of the Mu Alpha Chapter such as Dr. John Potts, William Toby Daniels and Charles Sid Holmes,” stated Walker.
Prior to being elected, Walker served as the District Director of Public Relations and the Ist Vice District Representative. He currently serves as Basileus of the Mu Alpha Chapter as well. As the impact of the coronavirus is still being felt the members are looking ahead to their 76th District Meeting which will be held in Charlotte, NC in April 2021.
