The Kappa Rho Sigma Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated invites youth ages 12-18/6th through 12th graders to its annual Youth Symposium to be held on Saturday, March 14, 2020 from 10 AM to 2 PM at Heart to Heart International Ministries (104 Behrman Street, Moncks Corner, SC 29461).
This year marks the sorority’s 23rd Annual Youth Symposium, which will be simultaneously implemented by chapters across the nation. The 2020 theme is “Elevating Our Youth: Civically, Socially, and Physically.” This is a free community event in which chapter members will provide fun, interactive, educational workshops to help guide the youth in making healthy decisions through H3: Healthy Choices, Healthy Living and Healthy Generations. Topics discussed will include self-esteem, money management/financial awareness through the Sigma Public Education and Research (SPEAR) Foundation’s program called Project Wee Savers, fitness, healthy eating, distracted driving prevention, education and literacy, human trafficking, and social action: what to do if pulled over/stopped by an officer. There will be guest speakers, refreshments, and giveaways.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to register their children on Eventbrite. This event kicks off the chapter’s Sigma Week. For more information about Youth Symposium and Sigma Week, call (843) 608-9416 or visit the KRS Palmetto Poodles Facebook page.
Youth Symposium helps sorority members give back to their community through “Greater Service, Greater Progress” as the sorority’s motto states. It is a product of Operation BigBookBag, an international service project sponsored by Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated.
