Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center hosts Veteran job fair

The Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center is hosting a Veteran Job Fair on Thursday, Feb. 13 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the medical center’s main auditorium located at 109 Bee Street in downtown Charleston.

If you are a Veteran searching for employment or a change in career, then this event is for you! The job fair is being hosted by Charleston VAMC’s Compensated Work Therapy (CWT) Program. CWT’s mission is to find employment opportunities that match the skills, abilities and preferences of the Veterans. Community partners will be on-site with information on private sector jobs that have immediate job openings. Employers that will be in attendance include: Southern Eagle Distribution, Marriot Hotels, Medical University of South Carolina, Call Experts, Lowe’s Home Improvement, Valet Living, Sanders Construction, Job Impulse, Consolidated Planning, J Dog Junk Removal and others.

“We are looking forward to hosting this job fair for our Veterans,” said Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center Acting Director & CEO Ronnie Smith. “While we periodically host these open events, we also do this work every day to support our Veterans. We have nine permanent staff members in our CWT program that connect Veterans with employment daily—helping Veterans reach their fullest potential in the community, independently care for themselves, and give them confidence and purpose.”

Veterans are encouraged to bring copies of their resume and dress professionally.

Veterans will also have the opportunity to learn about different employment services offered at Charleston VAMC.
