Charleston County Hosts Public Open House on the Glenn McConnell Parkway Widening Project

Charleston County Government will host a public information meeting to present design plans for the Glenn McConnell Parkway Widening project. The meeting will take place on Wednesday, January 29 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the media center on the second floor of West Ashley High School, 4060 West Wildcat Blvd, Charleston, SC 29414.

The meeting will have an open house format where attendees can review exhibits and meet one-on-one with the project team. There will also be a noise demonstration from industry experts in traffic noise modeling. Please note that this meeting will not include a formal presentation or spoken public comment.

The goal of this project is to relieve traffic congestion on Glenn McConnell Parkway by widening the road from four-to-six lanes between Bees Ferry Road and Magwood Drive. It will also improve bike and pedestrian facilities through the addition of a multi-use path, allowing safe pedestrian access across the CSX Railway.

Charleston County asks that attendees use the front entrance/teacher parking lot and follow the signs to the Media Center. For those who cannot attend this meeting, an online meeting and comment form will be available following the meeting at https://roads.charlestoncounty.org/projects/glenn-mcconnell/.
