Embracing U Breast Cancer Foundation Survivor’s Candlelight Gala

The Embracing U Breast Cancer Foundation is hosting their annual fundraiser Candlelight Gala. This black-tie affair will be an evening of elegance with music, dancing, a sit-down dinner and auction. Survivors and their guests look forward to this event every year.

Embracing U was founded nearly ten years ago on September 28, 2010 by three breast cancer survivors, Odessah Mackey, Sonya Simmons and Cynthia Smalls (all from James Island, South Carolina). The three had been meeting frequently to discuss their passion to do something for breast cancer survivors in the community. It was out of those discussions Embracing U formed.

The foundation’s mission is to embrace, educate and empower individuals to live a healthy life before, during and after breast cancer. The founders did a lot of the work on their own initially before forming a board of directors to assist and support the mission of the foundation. The board has been instrumental in continuing the mission of Embracing U in the tri-county area and beyond.
